The Paperless Classroom
End of session reflection
I was really excited to tackle this week's assignment. This week's assignment is basically my plan for the summer (besides spending time with my family, training for my annual sprint distance triathlon for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, rejuvenating), revamping my units in Physics to create blended learning environments.
I still need to do some work to improve this lesson. Thanks again for the feedback Dr. McGregor. I love the idea that you gave me for Day two collaboration to try some new tools. This is one area that I feel like I need to practice more, I tend to revert to things I know, I hope to explore some new tools from our class Google Doc on tools to try. Before I started go digital, I was the 'poster teacher', but students can only do so many posters. Same with technology, I need to find several tools that I can use to create and "mix things up" in the classroom.
Additionally, the final lab investigation needs scaffolding. I will probably create a checklist for the unit and the open ended lab, so students know how to proceed with investigation. Now my concern is that there are too many checklists? Or is it a good thing that students have a tried and true checklist to follow for the major units?

Week 6 Assignment: Choose a unit of instruction and “revamp” the curriculum to include components of Blended Learning.
This week's Assignment:
Blended Learning
Choose a unit of instruction and “revamp” the curriculum to include components of Blended Learning. Determine what part(s) of the instruction could be shifted to maximize learning. Rationalize the decision (i.e., what impact will this shift make on instruction and/or learning).

Additional Background Information:
Our school is changing schedules next year from a five periods per day (67 minutes per block), three trimesters where electives and core academic classes meet for either one or two trimesters (AP meet for full year) to Seven period rotating six period day where each day one class is dropped (~55 minutes per period), on a four quarter schedule. Classes will meet either for two quarters or four quarters. Because the schedule is changing, I am also trying to update & change my curriculum to a blended format.
